Validation and transparency of Barista training Skills
EU-Programme: Erasmus+, KA2 VET
Coordination: POLE METROPOLITAIN POUR L’ENTREPRENEURIAT (LE CARBURATEUR), Francia
Duration: December 2023 – November 2025
The demand for Barista services is growing, yet professional training in this field remains overlooked. Research highlights a rising interest in Barista education, particularly vocational training and retraining opportunities. While coffee is a widely consumed product across participating countries, its potential for tourism development is often neglected due to a lack of marketing expertise. This issue is especially prevalent in Balkan countries, where formal Barista training is scarce. Unlike many EU nations with established coffee cultures, aspiring professionals in the Balkans often rely on self-education through informal means, which can be both costly and time-consuming.
A single coffee business alone cannot drive tourism, a common challenge in all partner countries involved in the BARISTA project. Collaboration with travel businesses, hotels, and restaurants is essential to creating a supportive environment that fosters economic synergies.
The BARISTA project seeks to address these challenges by integrating education and digitalisation into the coffee industry. It will provide formal training for Baristas and other coffee professionals, helping to establish new occupational profiles and fill the existing skills gap. Additionally, the project aims to develop a digital platform that will enable businesses and individuals to connect, collaborate, and share industry-related knowledge, strengthening the sector’s growth and its potential for tourism.
