Empowering entrepreneurial skills and unleashing potential of unemployed seniors
EU-Programme: Erasmus+, KA2, Strategic Partnerships for adult education
Coordination: Agentia pentru Dezvoltare Regionala Sud Muntenia (Romania)
Duration: September 2014 – August 2016
Unemployment is one of the biggest challenges that Europe is facing in the context of economic crisis and one of the most affected groups are senior workers. People over 50 are generally characterised by broad knowledge acquired and extensive professional experience but, at the same time, face significant difficulties when trying to re-enter the labour market. Still, most of the older unemployed people are often not aware of the possibility of creating their own businesses as a solution to reach employment, taking advantage and making use of their extensive professional experience and know how. However, in order to become successful entrepreneurs, seniors need to acquire the necessary business skills and competences on entrepreneurial development and receive professional support.
Aims
The MYBUSINESS project aims to promote senior entrepreneurship, healthy ageing and the labour market reintegration of people aged over 50 years old, through the creation of an ad hoc training and mentoring methodology, based on their identified needs. The objective of the project is the provision of basic knowledge on business skills and motivational thrust required for self-employment and the development of their entrepreneurial skills and spirit.
Partners and Outcomes
The MYBUSINESS partnership is formed by six experienced organisations from Romania, Spain, Ireland, Greece, Belgium and Austria, working in the fields of entrepreneurship, employment research and social innovation. The following outcomes will be provided:
- SEAP Training for boosting entrepreneurship skills
- SEAP Mentoring and tutoring guide
