The overarching goal of the AGREEN GAMBIA project is to enhance the capacity and relevance of the Vocational Education and Training (VET) system in The Gambia to foster sustainable rural development and support the transition to Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA). This will contribute to improved livelihoods, food security, and climate resilience among disadvantaged communities, particularly youth and women in rural areas.

The main objectives of the project are:
- To build the capacity of VET providers in The Gambia to strengthen cooperation between private and public stakeholders in the field of VET for demand-oriented and opportunity-driven VET interventions;
- To improve the quality and responsiveness of VET to socio-economic opportunities and social developments to enhance the labour market relevance of skills provision;
- To align VET provision to local, regional and national development strategies, especially in the areas of digital, green and inclusive entrepreneurship.

The project is based on a multilateral partnership between organisations active in the field of VET in The Gambia and Europe, aiming to support the relevance, accessibility and responsiveness of VET institutions and systems in The Gambia as a driver of sustainable socio economic development. The project also intends to contribute to the broader policy objectives that are being pursued between the European Commission and The Gambia and the EU-Africa Global Gateway Investment Package.
